A crash-filled second MotoGP practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix left Pecco Bagnaia with a new Jerez lap record – and the works KTMs in strife
A lively second MotoGP practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix ended with Pecco Bagnaia setting a new Jerez lap record, while the KTMs faced challenges. Maverick Vinales briefly held the record with a quick late-session lap until Bagnaia responded with a faster time of 1:36.025s. The battle intensified as Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi also showed strong performances, with Bezzecchi recovering from an early crash. Pedro Acosta and Jorge Martin captured top-10 spots, with Aleix Espargaro in seventh place. Ducatis dominated the top spots, but Brad Binder’s Q2 chances were dashed by a crash shortly before the end of the session. Only Acosta managed to secure a direct Q2 spot on the KTMs, with the rest having to fight through Q1. Various riders, including Vinales, experienced crashes but managed to continue without significant damage.
